Psalm 91 Verse 6

Psalm 91:6 (You shall not be afraid) ..of the pestilence that walks in darkness, Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.

In verse 3, We talked about, “surely God will deliver you from the deadly pestilence, here in verse 6, the Psalm declares we shall not even be afraid of it.

Terrorism, war, pestilence, famine and disasters are things that affect multitudes of people; but He who dwells in the secret place will not be afraid. Isaiah 41:10 tells us, “Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” This scriptures gives a perfect picture of a loving father holding his young child’s hand. No matter how often the toddler stumbles, he never falls on his face when he is holding his father’s hand.

As a parent, we never want our children to be afraid, we never want to see them get hurt. In Matthew 7:11, Jesus tells us, “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!

No matter what is going on all around us in this world, our Father does not want us to be afraid. 1 John 4:18 tells us, “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.”

Do you really know how much the Father loves you? He loves you so much He sent His son to die for you. Rom 8:32 says, “He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?”

Let not your heart be troubled!

  1. Even the Apostle Paul prayed that we would know the love of the Father.
    Eph 3:14 – 19
14 “For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,[c] 15 from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, 16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, 17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— 19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.”

I find the phrase “to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge” interesting. The love of Christ passes knowledge. If I learned something new about Jesus’ love for me everyday, I would still never know the full depth of His love in my lifetime here on this earth. Its like comprehending the universe. Our technology keeps growing and we learn more and more about the moon and the planets, even some about the stars, but there is still so much more out there that even our strongest telescopes can’t even come near seeing. That is what God’s love is like. We cannot exhaust our knowing the love of God.
